Privacy and Transparency

Privacy and Transparency Policy

At Relentless Health Value (RHV), we believe in being as relentless about transparency as we are about healthcare value. This page explains how we handle your data, how our RHV chatbot works, and what we track.

1. Transparency: How the RHV Chatbot Works

The RHV Chatbot is a specialized tool designed to help you navigate our archive. While we have over 600 total episodes, the chatbot currently accesses content from Episode 300 (November 2020) to the present day. This includes over 160 full transcripts, with more being added regularly.

Chatbot Memory & History

  • In-session Memory: While you are chatting, your prior questions and the AI’s answers are held in your browser. When you ask a follow-up (e.g., "tell me more about that"), the system sends the most recent portion of your current conversation (up to 12 messages) to the backend so the AI understands the context.
  • Device-local History: Past conversations are saved automatically in your browser's local storage on this device only (key: rhv_chat_history_v1). You can reopen these threads later from the đź•“ History panel. New questions will be appended to that existing thread.
  • Storage Limitations: Up to 50 conversations are kept; older ones are automatically dropped when the limit is reached.
  • Privacy & Control: Nothing is stored on our servers; there is no account-based history and no synchronization across devices or browsers. Clearing your browser data will delete your history. You can also use the "Delete all history" button in the đź•“ History panel at any time to wipe every saved conversation from your device.

Other Operational Principles

  • Accuracy Notice: AI may display inaccurate information. Users should always double-check responses against the provided official show notes.
  • The Search Process: When you ask a question, the system tokenizes it into keywords and matches them against a pre-built index of episode titles, tags, summaries, and transcripts.
  • Contextual Answers: The top 8 matching episodes are identified. Relevant chunks of those show notes and transcripts (up to 5,000 characters each) are sent to Claude (an AI model by Anthropic) to draft a response.
  • Official Sources Only: The chatbot only uses the provided episode context and only provides links back to official show notes on relentlesshealthvalue.com.
  • No Training on User Data: The bot does not browse the live web, access your private files, or train its model on your specific questions.

2. Privacy: Data Collection and Logging

We collect specific information to ensure site functionality and to improve our content:

  • What Leaves Your Browser: When you send a question, your current conversation thread is transmitted to our backend so the AI can answer in context. We do not store the AI's answers on our servers.
  • Chatbot Logs: For every question asked, we log the timestamp, the text of the question, and your IP address (via Cloudflare) to a private Google Sheet.
    • Purpose: We analyze questions to understand what users are asking and to improve episode matching, tags, and answer quality.
    • Security: IP addresses are used solely to prevent abuse, such as spam, rate-limit violations, or automated scraping.
  • User Accounts (via Beamly): To comment on episodes or access the Chatbot, you must create an account. We store your name, email address, and an encrypted password. This data manages your access and identifies you when you post comments on episode, transcript, and blog pages. When you create an account, your email address is automatically added to our newsletter mailing list via Zapier, an automation platform that connects our account system to Moosend. You may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.
  • Newsletter (via Moosend): Our newsletter services are provided by Moosend, a third-party email marketing and automation platform. If you sign up for our newsletter, Moosend tracks clicks and page visits to help us understand which topics are most valuable to our audience. This service uses third-party cookies to monitor how you engage with our email content.

3. Cookies and Third-Party Tracking

We use standard tools to keep the site running efficiently:

  • Google Analytics: We use this to understand general website traffic and user behavior.
  • Moosend: Uses third-party cookies to track engagement with our newsletter content.
  • Infrastructure:
    • Our main website is hosted on Beamly.com.
    • Our Chatbot application is hosted on Render.com and protected by Cloudflare.
    • Data processed during chatbot queries is handled by Anthropic (Claude); you may wish to review their specific privacy policies.

4. How We Don't Monetize Your Data

Since our site is focused on "health value," explicitly addressing the commercial side of your data is critical for maintaining your trust.

  • No Data Sales: We do not sell user email lists or chatbot interaction data to third-party advertisers, pharmaceutical companies, or any other entities.
  • No AI Training: Our AI partner, Anthropic, does not use the specific questions asked by RHV users to train their global models.
  • Integrity of Content: The chatbot is programmed to provide information only from official RHV episodes and does not promote third-party products within its answers.

5. Financial Support and Donations

To support our mission, we provide an option for users to send one-time or recurring tips via PayPal.

  • Payment Processing: All financial transactions are processed securely by PayPal. Relentless Health Value (RHV) does not see, collect, or store your credit card numbers, bank account information, or other full financial credentials.
  • Data Shared with Us: When you donate, PayPal may provide us with your name, email address, and the amount of your donation. We use this information solely to acknowledge your support and for our internal accounting purposes.
  • Third-Party Privacy: Your use of the donation button is subject to PayPal's Privacy Statement. We encourage you to review their policies to understand how they manage your transaction data.

6. Data Retention and Safeguards

  • Retention: We retain your account and newsletter data (name/email) as long as your account is active or you remain subscribed. You can request account deletion or unsubscribe at any time.
  • Safeguards: We employ per-IP rate limiting and CORS (Cross-Origin Resource Sharing) locks so the chatbot is only accessible via our official website. We also use Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-friendly, invisible CAPTCHA that helps block automated abuse of the chatbot. Turnstile does not use tracking cookies and does not profile you — it only verifies that requests come from a real browser. See Cloudflare's Turnstile privacy notice for details.

7. Updates to This Policy

Transparency requires keeping you informed when our practices evolve.

  • Page Updates: If we change how the chatbot functions, adjust our data logging practices, or switch service providers, we will update the information directly on this page.
  • Review: We encourage users to check this page periodically to remain informed about how we are protecting your privacy.

8. Contact Information
